- I really meant it as a comment towards over-engineering solutions. The
- year 2000 problem which will hit us soon is an EXCELLENT example of
- under-engineering and short-sightedness, but I hope people don't start
- going too overboard the other way and over-engineer a solution (say with 5
- (or 8? -- 2^3) digits for the year). Someone in this thread brought up the
- question of whether or not there is also a 4000 year rule, as if it would
- matter. I very seriously doubt that any program you write today will be
- used in the year 4000. etc etc
